Support us

We have until May 8 to raise $15,000 through our Indiegogo campaign to fund 10 days of shooting this May, when we will interview four couples who are willing to give their testimonials on camera, and we're also in contact with immigration experts, politicians, sociologists and other experts who will give a bigger insight into the causes and consequences of this situation.

Every single contribution counts, even the small ones, towards this goal. But there are plenty of ways to contribute:

Get your perks

We're offering plenty of perks for your contribution on Indiegogo. You can get access to the documentary on Vimeo on demand, get a copy of the poster and screenplay of the film, attend the screening we will host in Montreal and so much more!

You can even get more participation in the project, by becoming an Associate Producer or Executive Producer.

Help us promote this campaign

1. Share on your social networks:

Share both the teaser posted on YouTube and the direct link to our campaign on all your social media channels, even the ones you use less. For example, channels such as Google+ and Pinterest, even if you don't use them that much or don't have a lot of contacts on them, are great for SEO. This means that sharing the video and the crowdfunding campaign on these networks will help get them indexed on search results and make them more findable to others.

If you don't know what to say as an introductory text to the campaign, download this guide with texts in English and French to share with your links. You can customize them as you wish.

You can also follow this link to download Facebook covers and other promotional images to share on your social networks with the links to the teaser and the campaign.

If you're sharing on Twitter, Instagram or Google+ and you don't know which hashtags to use, the document also contains a full list of hashtags that might be pertinent for the subject, plus some Twitter handles of media and politicians you can mention.

Another interesting way to reach more people is to share the links on Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+ groups you might find pertinent.

2. Interact with posts:

When you have the opportunity to watch our teaser on YouTube and Vimeo, like the videos so that they rank higher on each platform. Also, if you have the opportunity, leave a comment so the interactions start flowing.

In the same spirit, help our social media posts reach more and more people. Like, comment and/or share our Facebook posts to increase their reach. This means that Facebook will show these posts to more and more people because the algorithm will read the interactions and see that the post might be relevant to others.

Also, retweet our tweets so that other people can be reached with these messages.

3. Send an email:

Let your friends and family know why this is important to you, and why you think they should share this campaign with others and/or contribute by acquiring one of the perks we offer.

You can download our guide and customize the blocks of text in English and French as you wish.

4. Talk about it

When the Inland Spousal Sponsorship group gathered together, one of the ways we kept telling people to act is to tell others their story. The more people who knows, the more we can achieve. Same thing happens with The Backlog.

Talk to family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances about this project, tell us that we are here if they need more information, and that they can send us an email at any time to ask more. We are willing to exchange correspondence, have Skype or Google hangout calls, phone calls and personal talks to explain why this project is important and why we need all the support we can get.

  1. Thanks for all you're doing for all of us. It's important to have someone who raises our voices, because "life doesn't wait"!
